When Smiley Body Shop began, the original building consisted of only two bays. As the company became successful, founder Gerald Smiley built a new, 4,500 square-foot facility. In order to stretch his small business budget, Gerald did a lot of “horse trading.” “He traded with the bricklayer and traded the concrete floor out by painting the man’s trucks,” says son, Jeff Smiley, owner.

The investment was a smart move by Gerald. As his reputation continued to grow, so did the work load and the need for yet more space.

Today, Smiley Body Shop comprises over 11,800 square feet. A shop that was once at capacity to repair more than a few vehicles at a time, can now process over 30 simultaneously.

A model of collision repair efficiency, the Smiley Body Shop physical plant allows for reduced cycle times, with areas for specific types of repairs. This allows for effective use of space and our Express Service.

Smiley Body Shop is designed to be efficient for all customers, including insurance companies, fleet and DRP partners. Customers experience a quicker, more professional repair process and fleet vehicles are back on the road sooner.

Unlike lesser developed shops, and many dealers setups, Smiley Body Shop houses all equipment necessary to complete a quality repair. Vehicles processed at Smiley Body Shop require no outsourcing for frame work, alignment, welding, glass repair, and other needed operations prior to body and finish repair. Utilizing our efficient, completely developed process can reduce claims cycle time.

While emphasis is placed on producing a speedy repair in the most efficient manner, operational costs are reduced for our DRP and fleet customers. Great efforts are also taken to ensure the safest repair possible.

Our facility in central Henry County is easily accessible from South Muncie via State Road 3, and from Indianapolis and Richmond via Interstate 70. Our location is ideal for motor transport of vehicles and the receiving of parts from our many industrial and manufacturing accounts.
